MLS Tour: Ravenna Craftsman

I found this adorable craftsman cottage while browsing this week. I love the cozy feel and it has a farmhouse kitchen that is drool worthy. This house is pending...so I'm not sure how long the link will be active, but if you get a chance give the other spaces a look too. HERE

The blue paint and red door look just right to me on this house.

One of the things I really love about craftsman homes, is how designers were starting to really open spaces up and add natural light. From the looks of these spaces the windows are original and you can see how the open living and dining work well even today. This house will probably be very liveable another 100 years.

Check out those pretty windows surrounding a bright built in. I really like their choice of dining set too with the dark table and light settee.

This kitchen is perfect! I love everything about it. The style of the cabinets is a good match for the age of the home..

This laundry would also make a perfect craft studio, right next to the playroom area. Love the mint green paint on the cabinets.

This house has a good family feel and perfect spaces.. no wonder it's been snatched up by some lucky buyer. I have to say I'm glad the market in Seattle seems to be hopping again.. it usually trickles into Eastern Washington and maybe our local market will show an improvement too.

Bathroom Update

Our bathroom is still in progress..but looks soooo much better now than before. The new floor, paint, tub and cabinet hardware make a huge difference. The new tub and shower were of course the most expensive part.

You will have to excuse photo quality. I have misplaced the battery charger for my camera...so these photos are taken with the phone. (sigh)

The floor was the most time consuming with hubby having to rip out the old tile and cement board and put down some new plywood and then put down the vinyl floor.

I painted this ceiling white, it gets a lot of moisture from the shower and was gray and spotty. It's now bright and clean. My Anthro shower curtain needs an iron after I washed it today...I'll get to that someday when I'm not so busy.

New shiny hardware on fresh painted cabinets.

Fresh blue paint and some beach accessories. I found this canvas print at Ross and I looove it. In fact at the next house it will have a different life than bathroom art.

Next on the list is counter top and sink re-do and finally wall trim and new door. A few little things like a new register cover and outlets. But it feels much fresher now.. and cleaner.

Main Bath: The good, the bad and the ugly

Yesterday we got a new bathtub/shower. We hired Re-Bath and the old tub and shower was pounded and hacked from the bathroom and a new shiny full unit was installed. The good- the tub looks awesome. The bad.. well it really makes the rest of the room look like poop. I guess I need to get my butt in gear on finishing stripping the paper off the walls, and the ugly, well that is the floor tile. Blech!

So here are some photos of where we are now.

Caution.. if your squeamish.. you may want to stop.. just a warning. :P

The old shower with it's strange sand colored tile.

null Note the lovely mirror surrounded by yellowish stripe wallpaper.

Here is a good view of half pealed wallpaper, the solid yellow is the craft paperish under part still on the wall. I peel the plastic top part off..then spray with water and peel off. I then have to scrub off the paste with soapy water. Fun Fun

Now for the ugly.. OUR TILE (Feel free to scream..unless your kids are napping)

Stay tuned for a good photo of the tubs "after" and some wall progress.

MLS House Tour: Venice CA Castle

I like to look at these cute canal homes in Venice Ca. On one of our trips we took the kids over to walk around the canals and visit a playground. This area has some very interesting homes in styles that range from beach bungalow to modern and some are very creative cottages.Venice is also a frequently used filming location. I recognized the are when it was used in "Because I Said So" as the location for "Johnny's" bungalow. It can be seen here,Hooked on Houses: Because I Said So

So I was looking through listings in the area and found this pretty little castle.

MLS Tour: Coupeville Wa Waterfront Heaven

Ok..with this house my jaw dropped. "Hello Beautiful!"
I love everything about this house. The shingle style with wide bright trim, cottage round top door, the paint inside looks great! I love the furniture and the homey feel...and well the view is fab. This property even has a super cute guest cottage.

I would be sooo late getting anywhere when I can stare at this water all day..and in any weather. The house is actually close enough to the water that you can probably still see it when it's mist and rainy.

Where the kids and dogs would live!

More photos are on the listing HERE. Enjoy and try not to drool.

Kids Shirt to Pillow Project

Photobucket
I admit I have a hard time parting with the super cute little shirts my boys grow out of. I had these two shirts that we used in some photos, they of course grew out of them almost before we even did the shots.PhotobucketPhotobucket

I held on the them and couldn't let them go. I decided to make something out of them instead of boxing them up.

I had a couple of plain white pillow covers from Ikea.
Photobucket

After cutting the front off of the shirts I trimmed them into shape and used the back side of the shirts to frame them.
Photobucket

I zig-zagged the front to the back rectangle.

I straight stitched the whole thing to the pillow leaving a bit of edge to curl up. I didn't want it too perfect.. after all it's for a little boys room.

Here are the pillows all finished. My oldest loves his, his brother...well he is three, so could care less. It' dosn't have "Cars" on it. LOL

Master Bedroom Update

I wanted to put up an update on our bedroom. It's only a partial update...as if I showed you the other direction you would see the room has no closet doors. You can also see that this room, like all the others, needs bottom trim.

Here is the room when we first moved in, with the old white carpet.
Photobucket

We pulled up the carpet and had the wood floors refinished.

Photobucket
After paint, a new area rug from Lowes, Ikea bed, my chalk painted nightstands. You can see the goodwill dresser a bit. My husband put in the built in dressers..made from inexpensive Ikea dressers.
Photobucket

The bedding is Pottery Barn but the pillow covers (Southern Living Home via goodwill) and a vintage patchwork quilt. Lumbar pillow is from Target.
Photobucket

The curtains are actually Target shower curtains. I loved the print but walked away due to the price. Then one day I found one at goodwill..that allowed me to buy the second new and keep my cost down. Shower curtains hemmed work in this space because the window is lower than a normal window.
